Culture
What is family culture? Family culture is family traditions, values, and rules that govern a family's life and routine. In my own family, each year on Christmas Eve we all sleep in the same hallway and put a curtain at the end of the hall. Then the next morning we wake up and wait for everyone, then we are able to go out of the hall to see all the presents. Another family tradition is that every summer we go up to shaver lake for one week for our family camp reunion. It is my favorite family tradition. It is so much fun. We go boating and hangout and play board games and play frisbee golf and just talk. My dad is always teaching us to work hard and don't complain. When I was growing up, we would have to wake up super early and do our chores before hanging out with friends, or something like that. We would have to split wood and stack it, mow the lawns, blow the sidewalks, weed or spray weeds, many more chores. We also had to practice the piano, we always had to do it before Dad would come home from work. We have dinner at 6:00PM or 6:30PM as a family we all had to try to be home for it. Once everyone is done with dinner, we all clean up. Another, thing we do is read scriptures in the mornings before going to seminary, and always having family home evening on Monday nights. Every morning and night we say family prayer. My family loves to have fun and travel a lot, we love going to the lake and spending time out there and being with each other. My family is a loving family and supportive, but we don't really show affection as much, but we say we love each other after family night prayers. For example, when one of my siblings leave for a little we just say "bye" to each other and when they come back we just say "hi", we don't really hug each other. One thing that I want in my future family is that I want us to be open and close and loving with each other.
In the family it is very important to have both parents in the home. Each parent has roles to play in the family. The father's role is to provide for the family, love, and teach to work and other things that are important. The mother is to nurture, love, cook, clean and much more. Also, parents are leaders to their children, which means the parents need to teach their children all the important things to life. I was very blessed to have two loving parents that will do pretty much everything for their children and who are still in love with each other. Also, my parents are one who discipline, which I think is necessary for kids to learn. In my future family I will want to do what my mom did. Which is teach us to love everyone and have a good attitude and work hard and much more.
Also, I think that when a child is grownup in a world with money, their parents have good paying jobs, and nice homes, and in a good location. I think those kids will try to become like that and have that stuff in their lives still. But hopefully they will want to work for it and not just have their dad pay for things. I think that hard work when your little is really good for you because you know how to work and get things done and accomplish things. So, in my future family I will have my kids work hard and strive to be successful.
